When taken internally, black salve & black salve tablets should be taken with food on a full stomach to avoid stomach upset. Any side effects are usually mild & go away during or after use. These may include loose stools, sinus headache, stiffness in joints, low grade fever, tugging, tingling and/or pain at the site. It is not recommended to take other medication with black salve or black salve tablets. Generally, over the counter pain relievers are ok but should be taken at an hour opposite the salve or tablets.

Black salve used externally as an escharotic, poultice or drawing salve most likely will cause a burning sensation, pain & scabbing until its process is complete. External use of black salve may leave a scar to one degree or another so we recommend using our Skin & Scar Nectar after the scab fully forms to keep it moist or after the scab falls off. We DO NOT recommend black salve for the face but certainly not on large areas of the face or especially near the eyes, nose or lips as black salve is an escharotic and will make an opening in the skin, possibly leaving a permanent hole or indentation. More scarring may occur if the salve is disturbed or reapplied too many times.

The same things as mentioned above apply to pets and animals. However, they seem to be more full of energy when taking internally. Pets Hope for small animals may cause stomach upset, loss of bowels, thirst & hunger so keep plenty of water & food handy & make sure they have access outdoors. When using the salve externally use a cone collar so the animal can't lick or disturb the salve.

Wings will leave a garlic taste in the mouth for a few minutes after use.
